10 things that world can do to stop Chinese hegemony over the Global matters
10 things that world can do to stop Chinese hegemony over the Global matters
Before you make an impression of me as someone who is against the Chinese people, culture or religion, let me clarify that as a very common inhabitant of this world, I do have aspirations of Liberty, freedom from all unnatural shackles of life, privilege to contribute in the world order, prerogative to promote all sorts of equality among all the citizens of all the countries of the world. Somehow all these natural human values have been intimidated by the Chinese” my way or the highway” approach. I have full sympathy with the people of China who are forced to toe the hardline approach set by the Communist Party of China’s (CPC’s) authoritarian regime. So I am only against the totalitarian government of China and certainly not against Chinese people.
The Chinese government has shown little or no regard to the local or regional issues concerning its own people or its neighbors like India, Bhutan, Japan, Taiwan and other countries in the South China sea. It has not spared even Japan which has sponsored most of the development that we see in China today. It has even staked its claim in the Senkaku Islands, traditionally and historically which have remained parts of Japan. China’s other prominent disputes include the dispute over the Diaoyu Islands in the People's Republic of China (PRC), and Tiaoyutai Islands in the Republic of China (ROC or Taiwan).
Such behaviour is not just unacceptable but at the same time detrimental to the common goal of upliftment of people the worldover, from poverty, diseases, destitution and so many man-made inequalities.
The recent goof up by China over the Coronavirus pandemic is a glaring example of how China muscles its way out in any sort of imbroglio set up by the Chinese themselves.
So Before it is too late, the world's Noble and wise powers must do something, in fact many things. So what those something on many things would comprise. In my view, below is the ten point agenda that world powers should follow to spoil the Chinese game. These could be as under:
Decreasing economic overdependence over China:
There is an immediate need of lessening the economic overdependence on China and shifting of Economic focus to other more sane Republics of the world like India, Australia, Brazil and some African countries which of the late have shown exemplary resilience and mustered courage in the face of economic onslaught of China. There are some other countries which have controlled their GDP’s and finances miraculously even in the wake of COVID-19. These are the countries where developed nations must put their bets on as they have the potential to be the next global powerhouses. It is time to pack up the business in the so-called factory of the world, which has filled the world stores with its harmful, sub-standard and rubbish productions.
Strive to have a multipolar economical and political world
The escapade shown by China must awaken the world’s leading powers about any future misadventures by any other country. In order to develop a sustainable Economic Policy, the worlds’ major Economic Powers along with the World Bank must come together and ensure the participation of all the countries of the world, be it small or otherwise, in devising it. Along with devising rational economic policies, the world powers must pay attention and put in place a mechanism in maintaining the sovereignty of all the free countries (more potent than the current UN), because only then countries will pay their full faith in any new universal economic policy. Otherwise, it will be just another ill devised, inconspicuous plan like the Border Road Initiative (BRI) and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) by China which have done more harm instead of promoting economic integration among the participating nations.
Setting-up an enquiry to enquire in to the accusations of COVID-19 spread by China:
The ever increasing casualties and the terrifying rate of infections caused by the Corona Virus or the China virus as christened by the American President Donald Trump (which appears true in the wake of revelations pouring out on daily basis about the complicity of China in hiding the Virus’s origin and in its becoming a pandemic) needs to be properly enquired in order to punish the culprit. It needs to be seen whether China has knowingly or unknowingly helped in its spread. If the truth is not revealed, it will inspire many other countries to resort to such deceit mechanisms whenever they feel cornered or somehow maliciousness overpowers them.
At the same time, WHO should also introspect its activities, which has largely failed in its duties, not only in containing the deadly virus but was also found wanting in coming clean in matters of its complicity with China as accused by America and several other countries.
Sanctioning China for its uncalled for Economic and military miscalculations
Many recent instances of successfully grabbing of valuable assets like lands and ports of countries (like that of Hambantota Port which Sri Lanka coughed up for 99 years lease when it failed to pay up for the investment) who sought Chinese investments, have only bolstered it to vye for more.
The Seven Islands artificially built by China under its Land Reclamation Project and the illegal Nine-dash line threatens the peace and tranquillity in the South China Sea and is a major concern for the neighbouring countries and their sea routes.
In the wake of recent ongoing intrusions by the Chinese military in the Indian part of Ladakh, the statement by the Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi that “such acts of expansionism has no place in the affairs of 21st century”, needs to be applauded and echoed by the world leaders as by saying this Mr. Modi has dared to call a spade a spade unlike many other powerful countries which have till now kept mum fearing a Chinese backlash.
Stopping China from piling up and spreading nukes
Since China has procured or developed furtively its weapons of mass destruction, it has become customary for the Chinese to show off their inventory on every possible occasion. True, every nation has a right to acquire weaponry in order to safeguard its sovereignty, but what China has done is conspiring with rogue nations like North Korea and Pakistan, off lately with Iran and helping them illicitly in developing even more vicious and menacing arsenals.
The world can’t ignore it and sit back hoping for good. Recent clashes with Indian forces must have dented Chinese confidence to face a daunting adversary like India with traditional means, wherein Indians matched the Chinese man for man and trick for trick.
It is interesting to note that the Chinese have been employing similar strategies against its other neighbors like the Philippines, Japan, Nepal, Bhutan and Taiwan with profound success. But they have learnt a lesson the hard way that India is no other pushover or it is not the India of the 1962s as was evident by its assertive response.
So to stop Chinese from any such future misadventures, they must be restrained by way of sanctions and other International watch overs.
Shunting out China from the UNSC and other international bodies till it mends its ways:
The UN as well as other peacekeeping bodies will be failing in their duties if they look the other way and allow China to go on displaying its effrontery and it continues to intimidate smaller nations at will. It will be like letting the Communist Party of China (CPC) to become another Nazi.
This time the UN must take a call and banish China from all its forums including the UNSC where it founded its entry only after India relinquished its legal claim. Chapter 5 of the UN Security Council shows the way to amend its Charter and show China the door.
Expanding UNSC
In the wake of the changed world order, the UN must seriously consider to accommodate new deserving members like India, Brazil, Australia and few African nations in its Security Council in order to increase people’s representation in it and make it a truly people’s representative body protecting human rights and values in the 21st Century.
Bailing out countries from the clutches of Chinese malice and deceitful temptations
The world has looked the other way long enough to give Chinese ample time to weave its web of lies to entangle in it hordes of non suspecting nations. Some smaller nations are now nearly in the brink of economic madness after they failed to pay back the Chinese investments. So the world bodies like the World Bank must come into picture and strive to bailout such indigent nations by its resources to give them a new lease of life.
Demilitarising China’s neighborhood
In this do or die situation, there is an immediate need to demilitarize the South China Sea region, Macmahon line, Senkaku, Diaoyu and many artificial islands developed by China and to force it to settle amicably its border disputes (allegedly China has willfully kept in abeyance its border disputes) with countries like India, Japan, Nepal, Bhutan, Philippines and other south China Sea Nations abandoning Nine dash line like aspirations for once and all.
Restricting robust Chinese economic activities
As already mentioned elsewhere in this article China is flooding the world stores with its cheap and rubbish products that rarely pass the environmental standards. The Indian government has already set an example by banning a number of Chinese apps (e.g. Tik Tok, Cam Scanner, Helo etc.) and websites that were found spying Indian data and siphoning out such vital information through servers located in the Chinese territory. Apart from banning these apps, India also made stricter rules for Chinese FDI and other investment routes.
Toeing the stand taken by India, America as well as several other countries like Japan, Australia even Russia are thinking on these lines.
Unlike the preceding centuries, 21st century is not for revolutions, it is for the evolution of human values, strengthening of democratic forces, development of bonding between the nations, sustainable development, upliftment of the human race from diseases, poverty and universalising free education for all and so on. All the countries must get equal opportunities to rise on the globe. No nation should be allowed to bully the minnows and should not threaten the sovereignty of others. Adhering to these principals will certainly give a new lease of life to deteriorating international relations.
